Catch me if you can.
Once again Down Syndrome Ireland (DSI) is running a motorcycle rally to collect money. Last year's rally raised over €200,000 and this year we are hoping to do even better.
Anyone who has a friend, family member or relation with Down Syndrome knows what a difference the support provided by Down Syndrome Ireland can make to their lives. Programmes such as the National Resource Centre have a significant impact on on the independence achieved by someone with Down Syndrome, but require lots of cash.
Over the three days of the May holiday weekend 150 motorcycles will travel around Ireland, covering more than 1000km. On the first day we will take a northern route from Dublin to Galway. On the second day we will move onto Cork, taking slight detours into Clare and Kerry. On the third and final day we return to Dublin touring through the towns and villages of the southeast. On the way we will be stopping for lots of photo opportunities and to give the DSI members a chance to admire (and sit on) our bikes.
Accommodation and food costs about €200 per person taking part in the event. I am covering the cost of my participation with a personal donation to DSI. Anyone who sponsors me will not be funding my three day trip around Ireland. All the money you donate goes directly into the DSI coffers.
