Where is the switch?

Goodbye

Once again Down Syndrome Ireland (DSI) is running a motorcycle rally to collect much needed cash. In the past three years the Rev-Up rally has collected over €675,000.

Anyone who has a friend, family member or relation with Down Syndrome knows what a difference the support provided by Down Syndrome Ireland can make to their lives. Programmes such as the National Resource Centre have a significant impact on on the independence achieved by someone with Down Syndrome, but require lots of cash.

Over the three days of the May holiday weekend 150 motorcycles will travel around Ireland, covering more than 1000km. The exact route will remain secret until the bank holiday weekend.

Last year we went from Dublin to Bundoran via the coasts of Mayo. On Sunday we went over the Sperrin mountains to the Joey Dunlop Leisure centre in Ballymoney where we had a tea break. From Ballymoney we returned to Bundoran on a route that took us along the northern coast of Derry and down the centre of Donegal. On the last day we traveled south to Leitrim and east to Dublin looping around the lakes in the midlands.

Accommodation and food costs about €200 per person taking part in the event. As in past years, I am covering the cost of my participation with a personal donation to DSI. Anyone who sponsors me will not be funding my three day trip around Ireland. All the money you donate goes directly into the DSI coffers.
